Co-Founder

Jo is a strategic communication, community engagement, and funding development professional with 20 years experience in the government and not-for-profit sectors.

Throughout her career Jo has led national campaigns on preventing alcohol harm and family and domestic violence, partnerships to support women’s leadership programs, and designed business plans and communication strategies to launch innovative affordable housing solutions and digital health resources.

Prior to joining FRED, Jo was Marketing and Communications Director at the Foundation for Alcohol Research and Education (FARE), a national health promotion charity with a vision for an Australia free from alcohol harms. In this role Jo was responsible for overseeing marketing and communications, funding development, and cross-sector partnerships.

In this role Jo led a team of staff and consultants to deliver a world-leading $27m national preventive health campaign funded by the Federal Department of Health and Aged Care. The public health campaign, ‘Every Moment Matters’, supports alcohol-free pregnancies and safe breastfeeding practices across Australia. As part of this initiative, she was also responsible for developing and overseeing a partnership with the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO) to deliver the ‘Strong Born’ campaign.

Jo is a former Board Director of the Women’s Legal Centre ACT and Region, YWCA Canberra and the Youth Coalition of the ACT. She holds a Masters of Strategic Communication from the University of Canberra, a Bachelor of Digital Media from the University of New South Wales and a Certificate in Sustainable Business Strategy from the Harvard Business School.

Jo is a Collaborator with For Purpose, and has completed the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) Company Directors course, and the McKinsey Executive Leadership Program.
